HAPPY 4th OF JULY ICON POST

Before i get started I need to address youkofujima's mod post. At the end of this icon post i will list all the Japanese fansites I am aware of using in the post, and all my previous ones. Unfortunately I do not know all of them. So, if any of you do know please tell me, i do want to give credit where credit is due. Now with that little sobering talk out of the way...

My gift to you is 56 icons/bases of Alfred Jones [US-tan]. Enjoy your Independence Day. No previews, you'll just have to look under the cut.

Dressing Room RPG

Hey Hetalia Fans,

I posted inquiring about an interest in having an APH dressing room RPG a week or so ago and found the response to be relatively encouraging so I went ahead and created the comm aphdressingroom. I don't consider the game live just yet, but feel free to read the profile, create some character journals and join the community!

I'm also looking for another mod or two, so feel free to let me know if you're interested! Also I'll be happy to field any questions about the community here!

and if this post isn't allowed... feel free to delete, of course.

[mod post] Another Hello

Hello, everyone, this is your community moderator.

I would have never dreamed that this community, which was created a little less than two months ago, would grow to be so big so quickly.  So here's a formal hello to all the new members, I hope you enjoy your time here.

And allow me to reiterate the rules as well as expand on them, since with more people, there are more brains to interpret the rules and I want to get it straight.

1) Play nice.  This should really go without saying.  And because Hetalia can either cause for a lot of fun or a lot of WANK, I'll ask you to please not take things too seriously.  (But, if you did, you wouldn't be reading Hetalia in the first place, right?)

We can't all be history, political science or world studies majors--or even the natives of certain nations (or having lived there), so I am asking that people:

-be kind when correcting people

-understand that there are certain different ways of interpreting history and politics due to either language, (for instance, to the Japanese, the Sino-Japanese war were two wars called "Nisshin Sensou" and "Nicchu Sensou," but it's called "The Sino-Japanese War" for some, and for others "The First Sino-Japanese War" and "The Second Sino-Japanese War.") , political background, or culture.

-be nationalists/patriots in moderation.  Understand that Hetalia was created based on history and RACIST/ETHNIC JOKES, so we're bound to see exaggerated qualities of certain ethnicities.  Once again, don't take it too seriously.

2) No spam.

-This means no self-introduction posts.

-Also, this includes posts like "Oh my god I just saw a map today and I had to laugh at the position of the countries!" or "My teachers recently put up flags of Japan and France next to each other!"  Please keep those out of the community, they belong on your personal journal.

-If it's a nation's birthday, please feel free to post something commorating it as long as you have some other contents (fanart, icons, fanfic, photos, etc) included in the post.  Just a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY [insert nation name here]" post would constitute as spam.

3)  Please keep the following things under a cut:

-any images over 300x300, or when you do an icon post, keep your "preview" images to a minimum of 3 preview pics.
-any images that are considered not worksafe.  This would include sexually explicit pictures or extremely violent pictures
-fics.

4)  Though labeling is not going to be strictly enforced, it is recommended and highly encouraged.  If confused, please use this template:

Title:
Author/Artist:
Character(s) or Pairing(s):
Rating:
Warnings:
Summary:

5) About icons--some people have different views on what is acceptable to use for art in icons (fanart VS official art), so I will say it here--Fanart Icons are acceptable, but please try to credit/link the original fanart site it came from.  Also, if the fanartist emails any of us and asks that we do not use his/her fanart for icons, please respect those wishes and not only tell the community but also stop using those icons.

It has happened before that two fanartists have emailed me to ask that I stop using their art for icons.  Japanese fanartists can and will put locks on their websites to block access from certain IP addresses, and we don't wish to be shut out from half the Japanese Hetalia fandom.

Finally, a POLL THAT WILL DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT RULE #6 WILL COME INTO PLAY.

It has come to the attention of some members of the community about the growing concern of using which name when addressing the characters.  The Japanese fandom has already put strict fandom rules on public posts (as in, posts on the Japanese Tegaki blog as well as NicoNico video).

Their most basic #1 rule is this: DO NOT USE THE NATION'S NAMES.  USE THEIR HUMAN NAMES OR NICKNAMES FOR THOSE WHO DON'T HAVE A HUMAN NAME.

This was to ensure that people who don't know the fandom and stumble upon it don't get offended immediately.  (Especially with pairing pictures--while some people like the idea of Turkey/Greece, others...not so much.)

Thus, a poll.

Poll #1217657 Naming rights

Do you think we should start, as a rule, to use human names/nicknames instead of nation names?

Yes
20(19.4%)
No
83(80.6%)

And in case you're wondering, the human names of the nations are:
